Real experiences from our adopters
We know that adopting a dog is a life-changing decision, and nothing shows the impact better than real stories from people like you. At Final Stop Rescue CIC in Bury St. Edmunds, we share tales of joy, transformation, and companionship that come from welcoming a rescue dog into your home. You'll find stories of seamless adoption journeys, new furry family members settling in, and the difference our thorough matching process makes.
Every testimonial highlights not just the dogs, but how we support you at every step. These success stories give insight into what to expect and encourage anyone considering adoption to see the rewards first-hand. For those unable to adopt, our dog sponsorship programme offers a vital way to fund essential food, shelter, and medical care for animals awaiting their forever homes.
What our adopters say
I have both adopted and fostered for Final Stop Rescue. The team are always helpful and keep you informed of the progress. They are always on hand for any questions you may have. They are also thorough in their vetting process which is re-assuring. Wouldn’t adopt from anywhere else now.

We found the process off adopting from Final Stop Rescue simple and efficient. By filling out the adoption form they were able to match us with a dog that was right for us and made sure we were the right people for her as well. When our dog Mable arrived, she was in amazing condition, she was spayed and microchipped and we were provided with her passport and health certificate. She is a wonderful addition to our family and we would absolutely adopt from them again in the future.

We adopted Remi (formerly Jazz) just over a month ago, and he has brought so much joy and love into our home already. He is such a sociable boy with the happiest personality, and despite his difficult start in life, he has adapted amazingly well. His toilet training was incredible considering he had been living in a shelter, and he settled into home life far quicker than we expected.
Remi truly is a boy full of love, and we are so grateful he found his way to us.

We adopted little Charlie (Dixie) from Final Stop Rescue and they were amazing. The whole process went so smoothly from start to finish. During Charlie’s journey we could track online exactly where he was every step of the way and the wonderful people involved are always available for advice.
Charlie has settled down so well, he came out of his shell on the first day although still a little shy with other people, he is getting there. He’s a little pocket rocket, full of beans. He loves his walks, is obsessed with a ball and playing with his many toys that he loves to tear apart. He’s bought so much fun and love into our lives. So glad we made the decision to adopt.

We have fostered through FSR, we found the rescue to be very supportive and the communication throughout has been exemplary. Fostering has its downside as you grow attached to all the pups, but being able to help them and then see them move on to their forever families, makes it all so worthwhile. It's's definitely something any dog lover should try at least once if they are able too.

Eada arrived on 27/02/26 (her name was Angel in Romania) and is an absolute delight, she was a bit wary at first which is understandable as she had a lot of hardship to try and forget about. Eada has a lovely, sweet nature and is now very playful and going to dog park every week. She took no time learning to be housetrained, very little accidents at the start and now is a star! Dealing with FSR was a great experience, regularly kept up-to-date with progress in having Eada ready to travel and handover day was seamless. Information provided about Eada’s story was really helpful with lots of photos and videos. Would highly recommend FSR if you are considering adopting from them, a really professional organisation.

Both of our pups are from FSR. The adoption was seamless and help always available. Please adopt or foster from this rescue. The job they do in helping those dogs is amazing and I'm so grateful for our Abbey and Jenna.

I saw Woody/Bingo on the Final Stop Rescue facebook page because I have already had a dog from them before, he is called Theo, who is a wonderful dog. So when Woody came up, I fell in love with him straight away and knew that I had to adopt him. The process was straightforward, and help was always there. Woody is a big part of our family even though we haven't had him long. He enjoyed his baths and gained weight, filling out nicely. He just loves running around the garden with my other family dogs. We all love him, and he will have the best life ever. A big thank you to Final Stop Rescue for saving him and bringing him home to me.

When we saw Eva, we instantly fell in love. Choosing Final Stop Rescue was a decision we are so grateful for. The adoption process was thorough, reassuring, and straightforward throughout. We loved receiving photos and videos of Eva in Romania before she travelled, especially while she was being cared for in foster after leaving the shelter. It was so re-assuring to see how loved and well cared for all the rescue dogs are while they wait for their forever homes. The updates during her journey and the excellent communication made the whole experience feel very personal and well organised. When Eva arrived, she was understandably nervous, but the advice and support from Final Stop Rescue about decompression and settling her in were invaluable. She has settled beautifully at her own pace, bonded wonderfully with our resident dog, and has become such a loved part of our family already. We can’t thank everyone at Final Stop Rescue enough for bringing Eva into our lives.

Where to start as there are so many great things to say! We feel so incredibly lucky to have adopted Newt (Ezra). Hayley and the team at Final Stop Rescue made this possible. From the initial enquiry to Newt arriving on the transport, they delivered not only a wonderful little animal, but also a thoroughly professional service. They were so supportive and responsive throughout and made the application process very straightforward. We allowed the team to choose which dog best suited our household and boy, did they get it right!!! Final Stop’s assessment process is rigorous and understandably so – it’s in everyone’s interest to get this right first time. The information we were given throughout the adoption process was extremely helpful and our communications were greatly appreciated. What we didn’t quite expect was how that wonderful care and support would continue after Newt had arrived. Newt is just amazing. He is such a gentle and happy soul and every person he meets seems to fall in love with him.
Thank you Final Stop Rescue.

We adopted our dog, Yanis from FSR in March 2025. We fell in love with him instantly and he us. The adoption was simple and straightforward and we were kept up to date through all aspects of it. You were also provided with a lot of information and on-going support following the adoption. Yanis settled in really well, although anxious at times, he was just full of love and cuddles. We did however feel he needed a friend that was closer to his age, my resident dog being a lot older, so we adopted another dog, Erica in February 2026! She has settled in even faster than Yanis and is an absolute character! She's so loving and friendly and her and Yanis together, is the sweetest. I would thoroughly recommend FSR and have had such a positive experience on both my adoptions.

My journey with Final Stop Rescue. Looking through all the pages, seeing all the beautiful dogs needing homes, how do you choose? Then you see the one. The process is so professional. You apply and all the relevant checks are done, if suitable, you are approved. You're kept up to date constantly about your fur baby’s progress. The day of arrival is so exciting and nerve wracking. Your fur baby comes with all the injections, wormed, flead, chipped. It’s just so beautiful watching your fur baby gain their confidence and learn to trust, which can take time. The team are always there for any advice needed. My beautiful Holly is so very special. The work Hayley and team do is so dedicated. They do it from pure love of the dogs which they find in terrible conditions. I can’t thank them enough.
