Rescue work spans the UK and overseas
A rescue story built on compassion
Our journey began after we witnessed the desperate conditions faced by dogs in public shelters in Romania. Severe overcrowding, lack of food, and dogs living in unclean conditions made survival a daily struggle.
Final Stop Rescue CIC stepped in to improve standards in many public shelters like the Radauti shelter, starting by cementing floors so kennels could be cleaned properly, and dogs were no longer living in waste. We also arranged regular checks through a local worker and set up monthly food fundraising to provide consistent support.
Progress is steady and ongoing as conditions continue to improve. The founder has many years of experience working with overseas rescue organisations and established the rescue in 2014 to make a direct and lasting difference to abused and abandoned dogs. Since then, the work has expanded across both Romania and the UK.

How your donations make an impact
Every donation supports practical care for dogs in need. Funds go towards regular feeding, veterinary treatment where possible, and improving day-to-day living conditions within shelters. Local support ensures dogs are checked consistently, while ongoing neutering and spaying campaigns help reduce the number of unwanted litters. We rescue dogs from high-risk public shelters where their time is limited, moving them into foster-shelter environments until suitable homes are found in the UK. We also support the rehoming of overseas rescue dogs already in the UK, alongside helping unwanted animals within the UK itself. Each step is focused on giving dogs a realistic chance of long-term stability.

A commitment to every dog's future
Final Stop Rescue CIC focuses on matching each dog with the right home, taking into account behaviour, needs, and lifestyle to support a stable placement. Ongoing support is provided for the lifetime of the dog, including advice on behaviour and settling in. This means they will always be rehomed by us after all training and behavioural avenues are explored. Transport is carried out using specially adapted vans with air conditioning, climate control, and ventilation. Dogs travel in fixed pods for safety, which are cleaned regularly, with feeding and watering managed throughout the journey. This ensures welfare is maintained from collection through to arrival.
Regular visits to Romanian Shelters
We try to make regular visits to Romania to meet the rescuers out there and to spend time with the dogs, getting to know them. This way we get to form friendships with our rescuers and get to know each dogs individual needs. We have found this helps us improve our re-homing service in helping adopters finding the best match.
